Ken "Dallas" Kercheval guest stars in this episode, where Dr Sloan is bequeathed a lottery ticket by a patient, Dale Harlan, who died from a gunshot. It turns out the ticket won $13 million!!! Three people (one of them Dale's wife) try to claim the ticket as rightfully theirs.
This is the 5th episode of season 1 of Diagnosis Murder, and was directed by Happy Days alumni Anson Williams (it just happens Scott Baio was also in Happy Days). This is the second time Anson helmed a Murder Diagnosis episode, the first being Murder at the Telethon (the 3rd episode of season 1). Interestingly, these two episodes, along with the 4th episode, Inheritance of Death, are like a trilogy of $$$ episodes where Dr Sloan is bequeathed huge sums, or huge sums are sought (Murder at the Telethon).
The Twin Dragon, a Chinese restaurant, features in this episode (you can see it in the background towards the end of the episode).
I think this was the last episode to be filmed and set in Colorado. Afterwards they move to LA without any explanation. This was a good move as Dr Sloan and his son lived in a beautiful beach house.
