The chemistry between the two female detectives is like an early version of the new series of Hawaii Five O, the two have a balanced chemistry of roguishness and good morales. The plot is reasonable and the acting wasn't bad aside from the dirty cops who seemed a bit stiff when it came to acting. Overall, not a bad episode that would have made a good series.

Gorgeous women but...

Disclaimer - of the multiple pilots DM featured in the series run, this one had a lot of potential, but... There was way too much smiling at the camera like, "hey Mom, I got a new show!"
This kind of kills the episode. The women are gorgeous, without question. DVD's interaction with them is excellent, but the smiling and predictable nature of the episode kind of limited the potential. I hate it, as the women were stunning.

Dirty Harriets

Warning: Spoilers
Blood Ties is an episode that really caused a stir (relatively speaking) amongst the imdb community, with this episode having so far six user reviews. That's usually six more than the usual and I know that because I've been catching up on Diagnosis Murder episodes that I recorded five years and enthusiastically posting reviews for the episodes and it appears I've been the first. Opinion is sharply divided about Blood Ties. Det. Amy Devlin (Kathy Evison) and Police Detective Taylor Lucas (Zoe McLellan) play two police detectives who don't let niceties get in the way of justice. Sure, there is some cheesy and cliche moments and a hint of self-parody about the corrupt cop genre and the Dirty Harry genre. But so what, I loved it! The detectives were beautiful and so were the corrupt cops.
Bad, awful, horrible, terrible, . . .

Warning: Spoilers
Apparently this episode was run as a internal pilot to see if any one would find the concept appealing. This was after Cagney and Lacy had their run and well before Rizzoli and Isles but those shows had something: chemistry. Here we have Det. Amy Devlin (Kathy Evison) and Police Detective Taylor Lucas (Zoe McLellan) as two crazy female cops looking for other cops who are killing perps. They drive like characters from the Dukes of Hazard but The General Lee would be too slow for them. Because they need to find a dirty doctor, Taylor shoots herself in the arm because her partner objects to being shot. And that's the highlight of the story. Turns out the bad cops are four evil Charlie's Angels who are trying to get needed organs for worthy patients like Amy's father. Thank god no network picked up on this pair, and they got a deserved fade away.
A Refreshing Episode

This was an enjoyable and refreshing episode. It wasn't your typical DM episode where Dr Mark Sloan does most of the detective work. However, he did see a common thread to what appears to be unrelated killings. Amy Devlin (Kathy Evison) and Taylor Lucas (Zoe McLellan) were funny and likable. I loved their bantering. Too bad the spin-off 'Whistlers' wasn't picked up.
