Daria and Tom's six month anniversary and Jake gets a new job
Tweekums17 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When Quinn receives chocolates and flowers from various boys to celebrate trivial anniversaries she thinks it is all rather silly; but when Quinn points out that Daria and Tom's six month anniversary is in a few days she starts to get upset that he seems to have forgotten... then she feels bad about feeling that way. Meanwhile Jake has got a new job working for an internet start up; the problem is he knows nothing about computers and can't understand a word any of his colleagues says.

As one might expect Jake's half of the story provides almost all of the laughs; his attempt at talking the lingo were especially funny. Daria's story may not have had as many laughs and those it did provide came mainly from side characters but that didn't matter as it was dramatically believable and showed that Daria is more like ordinary girls than she would like to believe.

Once again, Daria proves that underneath that hard exterior, she might just be normal after all!!

Warning: Spoilers
When Daria notices all the lavish attention that Quinn receives from her dates, it makes the lack of attention she receives from Tom more apparent. In other words, Tom and Daria have a comfortable relationship and love spending time together but there isn't any passion or romance--it's just not who they are. However, although Daria is NOT a normal and traditional girl, down deep she wished she were--at least in regard to dating and romance. BUT, because her persona is of a person who does NOT care about such things, her asking Tom for this is simply beyond her--and she becomes increasingly angry though she does nothing to make it apparent what she wants from her date. Daria just needs to say how she feels and what she wants, but instead gets angry because Tom is not a mind-reader.

While this plot involving Daria is serious and not the least bit funny, Jake has a GREAT plot. He gets a job with a startup company of young entrepreneurs. He's too old and WAY out of touch and much of the show consists of his pretending he knows what he's doing. It's one of the best Jake plots of the series and he is just terrific.

This episode is one of the better ones, as it blends a serious plot involving the Tom-Daria relationship with great humor. It juxtaposes both very well and is entertaining throughout. See this one.

Daria's 6 month relationship anniversary with Tom, Jake and the internet start-up
safenoe20 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Daria and Tom have been going out for six months, and for Daria it means something to her, whereas Tom feels a bit oblivious to the significance of the 6 month anniversary. Daria has a great heart- to-heart with her Mom, who counsels Daria not to expect anything.

Jake is employed by an internet company which helps other internet companies, and I could not help laugh at the send-up of internet start-ups, the open space offices, the employees who got wealthy taking up shares, the casual desks, the muffins in the staff kitchen. Jake comes up with a plan to increase visibility in the marketplace and and he's accused of being "as funny as a case sensitive search engine." Love it!
