Larry Carter, who is the owner of the stagecoach depot in Wileyville, has heard they are building telegraph lines into the town. This means that the railroad will soon be laying tracks and will put his business out of service. So he knows that he must sell the business before word gets out that the railroad is coming.
Because Mr Carter is none too keen on Indians, one day he decides to overprice Running Deer's mother for fare back to the reservation. This causing a fight where Running Deer loses his knife.
Also in town comes a man, Silas Greeley played by Stanley Andrews who must have been a friend of the producers since this is his third time to appear in season one, and his beautiful daughter, Rowena. Bill Jr is always trying to impress the young woman but most of the time she is not seeing the good side of Bill. Anyway, Silas is looking for an investment in Wileyville. With the stagecoach business up for sale, Bill helps Silas purchase the company. Only then does people know the train is coming to town and the stagecoach will soon go bankrupt. Everyone thinks Bill Jr knew of the events that were coming to the town. Then you add Mr Carter being found dead by means of Running Deer's knife, things look even worse.
This was another nice story and even had a good connection between our star and the female guest. Bill even gets a nice smooch from the attractive woman at the end of the episode. But as always the episode does have its flaws. Judge 'Fair and Square' Wiley played right up to his part but was not too sure that he was fair when he placed words in people's mouth during a trial. Take away an almost useless fight scene and make the trial more convincing and you would have had a great story. Instead you have a near average watch.
