Daddy's little secret

Warning: Spoilers
Before I get started let me state that Compulsive Gambling is a serious decease that effects millions of people worldwide. My Paternal Grandfather and My Father-In-Law have lost thousands of dollars hoping for that big score. But the truth is that there are never enough big scores (WINS) to satisfy the individual. Actor Jack Klugman was interview on a talk show how he would work like a dog all week (Hard labor) and when payday came he would gamble his whole pay away. He remembers watching his entire weeks work/pay literally run around a horse racing track. Our episode begins with the stuffy, high brow Margaret Drysdale (Harriet MacGibbons) excited that her Boston Banker Father (Charlie Ruggles) is heading west to visit her. Margaret's problem is that she is embarrassed by her degrading neighbor's, the Hillbillies (The Clampett's) and doesn't want her respectable Father from seeing them. Daddy arrives and quickly meets with his tight wide Son-In-Law, Bank President Milburn Drydale (Raymond Bailey). Daddy, Lowell Reddings Farquhar had a little detour in Las Vegas as he gambled all his money away. Our Senior Gambler asked his Son-In-Law to finance him but Milburn replies, that he should seek professional help. and the old dicer replied, "Would you finance that?" Milburn Drysdale gives his predictable response of NO! Frustrated in need of a gambling fix, Daddy Farquhar finds out about the wealthy mountaineers next door and pays the Clampett's a visit. The Clampett's get an education in poker and finally learn what the real function of their pool table is used for. Great laughs with Buddy Ebsen as Jed and Irene Ryan as Granny who become fast learners at the art of pool and poker. Great writing by Paul Henning and a professional card dealer was used for close up shots during the poker sequences.
