Egghead and his girlfriend do their thing
asalerno1025 June 2022
Egghead becomes engaged to Olga, who styled herself Queen of the Cossacks. Both initiate a series of misdeeds, he kidnaps Commissioner Gordon and intends to collect a tax on the consumption of eggs in exchange for his life and she, for her part, appropriates a valuable Russian samovar that is exhibited in an Embassy. Vincent Price and Anna Baxter are great as the villains on duty and they have very good chemistry, it's a shame that the script is quite poor.

Mistaken Credit Listing for Alan Hale
drscrivner5 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Alan Hale (best known as the Skipper on Gilligan's Island) does indeed appear in this episode.

He plays a bit part as the owner of a diner where the Chief of Police is confronted by the episodes villian- Egghead (Vincent Price).

You have Alan Hale credited as: "Skipper'.

In a twist of classic 1960's campy Batman irony Alan Hale's character name is actually: "Gilligan" in this episode. This episode of Batman originally aired on: November 2, 1967.

Gilligan's Island aired:

First episode date: September 26, 1964 Final episode date: April 17, 1967

So it was an obvious pop culture "Easter Egg" long before Marvel Superhero Movies mastered them.

Vincent Price and his bad eggs
kevinolzak25 April 2016
"The Ogg and I" promised to be an excellent storyline, toplining the return of Vincent Price as Egghead, the smartest criminal Batman ever faced. Unfortunately, the three episodes split up during this season saddle him with Anne Baxter's gorgeous but vocally challenged Olga, queen of Bessarovian Cossacks, who can't fight their way out of a paper bag. It starts off well enough, with Egghead kidnapping Commissioner Gordon and charging a tax on every egg eaten in Gotham City, supplying a diner cameo from Alan Hale (unbilled) as Gilligan! While Bessarovian ambassador Omar Orloff (Alfred Dennis) aids the Dynamic Duo, Alfred uses his keen sense of smell to help Batgirl try to locate the missing police commissioner by his cologne. The longer it plays out the less fun it gets, though Olga decides that Batman would make a good husband, as many as five allowed in her country! This two part broadcast consists of the first and third sections of the story, with chapter two "The Ogg Couple" oddly saved for later on.

Hit And Miss Episode With Enough Hits
StuOz1 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Egghead (Vincent Price) returns.

This begins with a very amusing line where Egghead has a go at Commissioner Gordon and suggests that someone needs to write him some new lines. Very funny moment which almost makes the whole 25 minutes worthwhile.

A second clever bit happens where an actor from Gilligan's Island (The Skipper) appears.

The later sections of the adventure get very silly but I was too busy looking at props which did double time in Irwin Allen TV to care. I think the big cage was used in Land Of The Giants (1968-70) and the big boiling pot has something under it that was once used in Lost In Space (1965-68).

The Ogg And I might not be my favourite Egghead adventure, but as I keep saying in my reviews, 1966 Batman is just not capable of doing a bad episode. Enjoy.
