"Hot Dogs" features the lone appearance of hot shot female detectives Carney (Nellie Bellflower) and Turner (Jonelle Allen), whose untimely bust of a small time drug dealer (David L. Lander) angers all their superiors, especially Chano, who had been hoping to catch the dealer's supplier. Even the indignant Inspector Luger (James Gregory's fourth appearance) loses his grip on things when the ladies turn on the 'waterworks' (Barney: "Luger's tough!" Yemana: "how are the girls?" Barney: "tougher!"). While this would only be David L. Lander's fifth television appearance, Howard Honig (first of five) plays Mr. Victor, reporting his wife Jean missing since last night because Monday is her special night- ALL IN THE FAMILY, MAUDE, RHODA, PHYLLIS (ah, nostalgia). Wojo asks for a photograph, with which he dutifully returns (Fish identifies her as "Jean Harlow!"). Once Barney convinces him that he might be wrong, he figures he's still got the kids (Fish: "Mickey Rooney and Freddie Bartholomew!"). Yemana gets a frantic call from a woman reporting screams (Yemana: "were they screams of pleasure?"). Wojo joins Nick in checking them out (Yemana: "it's either a riot or an orgy!" Wojo: "it's the same thing ain't it?"). Nick insists the call was not ignored: "you could have saved us an awful lot of time if you'd have told us that you lived next door to a hospital!"
