My Favorite (actually it's a tie)

I go back and forth between this episode and Convicts At Large as my favorites. Both episodes center around Barney and Floyd.

Barney stirs up kind men to anger.

Love the little dance Barney does when he's in shock. He makes abrupt rapid body movements and shifts his neck to look in that direction he's moving in. Always love when he did that. Mr Foley (Frank Ferguson) has a slight European accent in this episode. Appears he only had it in this episode.

Superbly written funny episode. We see Barney totally out of control. Andy never really lays down the law with Barney. Even when Andy gives him an order Barney doesn't seem too concerned. Nice touch to not actually show the punches and leave it to your imagination.

Perfect epilogue everybody was waiting for. Barney getting popped in the beak.

Insuffererable Barner!!!!
Sacqueboutier29 October 2019
By the time the fifth season rolled around, the character of Barney Fife had evolved into a self-absorbed, condescending jerk, and this is on full display in this episode. Andy tries his best to talk some sense into Barney, but he'll have none of it. Barney insists on pursuing this issue at Andy's objections (never mind that Andy has proven countless times that he has Barney's back and is a most compassionate friend), gins up a whole lotta trouble between Floyd and Mr. Foley.

Let's face it. By this point, Barney has become absolutely insufferable, and, frankly, not very funny. In fact, he's more infuriating than funny. Perhaps this was intended, as by the end of this season, I was happy to see Barney leave. He just wasn't the same guy as in the first four seasons. In fact, throughout the 5th season, I just wanted to punch him.

Anyways, Andy's reasonability rules out in the end, and Barney gets his karma.

So long Barney. Don't let the door hit your backside on the way out.

One of the most annoying...

...Barney episodes. In reality, Barney would be suspended or fired for insubordination for disobeying the Sheriff's orders. Yet, wimpy Andy does virtually nothing. At the very least, Andy should've punched Barney's lights out! It's not a funny episode, only very, very annoying and aggravating.
