Horse-drawn milk wagons had to be long gone by 1967. A cute episode. No big laughs. I enjoyed Ron Howard trying to steer Andy off the path when Dolly makes noise in the Taylor's garage. He's showing some comedic acting skills in the color episodes. The highlight was seeing Charles Thompson (Asa) now Doc Roberts. Dr Peterson (William Christopher) is nowhere to be seen. Only an average TAGS episode. Still 1000X better than current tv shows. A good epilogue featuring Howard (Jack Dodson).

We need to start with a guy delivering milk from a horse drawn wagon. He is a bit of a character and he is about to be forced to drive a delivery truck. I know that this is supposed to be sentimental, but it is maudlin and dull. Opie gets into the act. Once again, despite his dependability, Andy doesn't trust the kid to do a simple thing. Things are crawling to a halt.
Goodbye, Dolly

I rate this episode a "10" just for the sake of "Dolly"-the horse. The horse that appeared in 'Goodbye, Dolly' (3/6/1967) shortly appeared one month later in the 'Star Trek' episode 'City On the Edge of Forever' (4/6/1967) with the same cart from 'The Andy Griffith Show.' 'Star Trek's' "City" had exterior scenes filmed on the Forty Acres back lot-where Dolly previously appeared on TAGS. Dolly resurfaced one season later in the 'Gomer Pyle USMC' episode 'Goodbye, Dolly' (2/23/1968). She worked both in the confines of Desilu and outside at Forty Acres. So, one must deduce that it was brought in a horse trailer three times to Forty Acres. Most actors rode on the bus or drove themselves. That horse needs its own page on IMDb!
