Jürgen Feddeck is a very quiet husband: he is sailing on the Starnberg lake with Anne Kant, the sister of the prest Tobias Kant. But suddenly his wife Judith comes back earlier from her cure and has seen Jürgen with a young woman. Judith calls Tobias who says that he was playing chess with Jürgen and that Jürgen just left his house. On the morning Jürgen is found dead in the boat house. Then begins an very interesting investigation about Jürgen, who was once married and his first wife committed suicide, about Anne Kant and her relationship with Jürgen, about Tobias the priest who doesn't agree the relationship of his sister with Jürgen.
