One of the best Greek TV Series Ever!!!
phd8730 December 2005
"Sto Para Pente" is a series about the mystery that five completely different people must solve, when a government official is murdered in front of their eyes.

The secret of the show's success, is not only the extraordinary performances of the cast or the directors' work. It is one of the few TV shows that relies on clever lines, mystery and well-written dialogs, instead of yelling, screaming and vulgar language used by most Greek hit TV shows. Yorgos Kapoutzidis, whose last work was another hit TV show, "Savvatogennimenes", has done a great job creating a story so original, yet so familiar (due to his references to various Greek B&W movies). Humour, as well as mystery and adventure, join forces to create one of the best Greek TV shows ever created.

All the performances are truly terrific, but the characters of Dalia and Theopoula (played by Smaragda Karydi and Efi Papatheodorou, respectively) steal the show. The director has done an excellent work and the song featured in the opening credits is one you really can't get out of your mind. The rest of the cast does an excellent job and the guest stars add up to the mystery. A show that can't be missed!

Great Series
msiakavellas27 April 2007
There are only a handful of Greek series that provide genuine laughs and afford viewers a witty and well-written storyline. Sto Para Pente is the only series I know of as of late that does not center on love affairs and which character is cheating on the other and so on and so forth. It is a truly entertaining show and from the moment I caught one of the first episodes on a trip to Greece in 2005, I was hooked.

Aside from all the humor, the episodes offer a hint of suspense and some drama. Characters are well developed and the direction really sets this show apart from other Greek television series.

Bottom line: it's funny in all the right ways.

The best Greek TV series in the 2000'
tankace7 March 2016
Sto Para 5 was the most watched TV show during the 2005 and 2007, when it aired on the mega channel. The show followed our protagonists who although they are quit different in ideals, behavior and dressing ,they make for really a funny, determined team, which, no matter the dangers they face, continue their quest for a truth about a almost 30 year old mystery.Their first encounter is as strange as their adventures after wards and it sets the tone of the rest series, which lasted for 2 years. If you want a family friendly mystery with a lot of funny ,then give it watch, I personally remember it funnily from my youth and when I bring watch it ,the experience wasn't a nostalgia killer as is the fact with shows or movies we watched from our early years.

One of the most successful TV series! Certainly my favourite one!A comedy which contains every element that will make it successful.A comedy of mystery.A comedy which will make you laugh with your heart.

Yorgos Kapoutzidis an extremely talented writer/actor has written a show which will certainly remain in the history of Greek TV.He has also proved that he can handle drama features as well.

Also the performance of the cast of the show is outstanding. Smaragda Karudi as Dalia Hatzialexadrou Elisavet Konstantinidou as Zouboulia Abatzidou Yorgos Kapoutzidis as Spyros Deloglou Argiris Aggelou as Fotis Voulinos and Aggeliki Labri as Aggela Ioakimidou

The cast is completed by the two amazing ladies!Spyros' grandmother Sofia(Irini Koumarianou) an her best friend Theopoula(Efi Papatheodorou).

"Sto Para Pente" is definitely a show worth seeing and is guaranteed that is going to make your day!

Mystery & Drama & Comedy ... sto para pente!
kellitsa-sivri1 May 2006
"Sto para pente" is this kind of TV series that turns you into an addict in case you want to see sth different on your TV screen ,sth more adventurous, mysterious and above all that smart.Giorgos Kapoutzidis has turned out to be a clear talent in this field due to the fact that the plot doesn't let you feel bored at all.One thing that makes this script so strong is also the great performance of every actor in this TV-series.All of them, one by one , are perfectly placed to perform their role which makes you think that they are meant to have this specific role cause it seems to be so hand in glove for them.Another thing which characterizes this script is that basically supports an adventurous comedy but sometimes it also unfolds the dramatic aspect this story can have; this is that makes it more special ,the unique matching of drama & comedy.A reference to the five basic characters is needed cause they are unbelievably special and so different that someone could easily say that altogether can create the most extraordinary person. All in all, it's for sure a TV-series which is worthy to watch because it has this "something" which makes it from good to be great. Enjoy the mystery!!!

"Sto para pente" is just excellent. UNMISSABLE!!!!!!!!

"Sto para pente" is probably the best TV series ever. i simply can't believe the infinite imagination of George Kapou. In my opinion Kapoutzidis is a God. the plot is great and his jokes make me laugh for hours. it's all i discuss with my friends. Don't u just love him! =)"Sto para pente" helps me exit the reality, forget the problems of daily life and become more optimistic. i admire Dalia and 8eopula and i believe that we should all try to be more like them 'n' enjoy life. i also like Kapou's previous series "savvatogennimenes". his role was excellent - a guy from Paraguay or Uruguay that constantly got on Soulla's nerves. He was simply adorable!! i honestly can't wait for his next work!

Excellent!
curreir3 April 2013
Recently, i watched for the second time the whole of his series. I found myself equally fascinated by it as i was the first time, despite knowing the plot. This is by far the best series ever in the long suffering Greek television history. The series were hugely successful in Greece and i think that there were two reasons for that: first, a brilliant script that managed to match in equal balance carefully adapted measures of mystery, thriller, comedy and drama and secondly, exceptional performances from all concerned. The characters were lovable, sympathetic, but not perfect and perhaps that was the secret of success, that they were realistically human. The scriptwriter, George Kapoutzidis managed even to touch the bigger questions about Good and Evil, Life and Death, Friendship and Love, without ever losing the series lighter touch. Its a pity that the series were constricted only to Greek speaking audiences, undoubtedly they would have been equally appreciated in other countries. I give them whole-heartedly a 10 out of 10!

Clever Well made Greek Show
polin00115 September 2006
This is one of the funniest, cleverest and well made Greek shows ever. The cast is stupendous and the writing very crisp. Sometimes you need to watch an episode a few times to get all the jokes. The other impressive thing about the show is that compared to other Greek Comedies, the humor is not obvious and the direction is similar to what you get with well made BBC or US comedies. I started watching the show while in Greece in the summer of 2006 and I was hooked by the time I left. Fortunately, I have Satellite Greek TV so I will be able to follow the 5 "angels of Charley" in the new season that is supposed to start in Mykonos.

This is great stuff; don't listen to the naysayers!
gddysunshine18 June 2007
I don't really have a whole lot more to add to the comments made by the first few people to give their opinion on this show which was indeed a breath of fresh air on Greek TV--heck, it was the first time I truly followed a Greek TV series in my life, and I was 22 when it started and have lived in Greece for nearly fifteen years! I've even found myself wishing they'd release it on DVD so I can keep it (a first for me!)--if possible, with subtitling options, so I could share it with friends of mine who don't speak Greek! It really is very good.

However I would just like to point out to people who might be reading these comments to determine whether it's worth watching that it's not worth listening to people like fgeorgiou or sotiris makris--both anecdotal evidence and more official audience figures suggest they're very much in the minority; besides, of those 2 guys, the first is obviously just trying to be contrary, and trying to elevate themselves apart from what they seem to view rather sniffily as 'The Masses' (capitals intended) and the second can't even be bothered to write his rather ungenerous criticism in plain English--he keeps mixing in Greek in key bits of text. Sotiris honey, this is a site in *English*-- if you can't be bothered to write your nasty comments in that language, stay clear cos you're just annoying people.

Right, I daresay I've fed the trolls (*gaaaahhh!*) but I don't want people to miss out on this just because some people are being killjoys (tonite was the closing episode, let's hear it for the DVD--meanwhile youtube has lots of snippets:-)--if there had been more comments I daresay all that BS would have been rather more lost.

Enjoy, folks! I know I have :-)

It worth every single second!
vaniapetrovic8 August 2007
I was exciting 2 years looking this serial. I did not want it to end ever!! It was more than one common TV serial. We were laughing and cry in the same time. The writer and one of the main character in the serial Georgios Kapoundzidis had to be in some kind of "madness" when he wrote scenario. It seems to be that he knows people's merits and particularly blemishes.

So many main characters and so many important supporting roles. Theopoula, grandmother Sofia, Amalia, Alexis, Thomas, Marinela,....and off course Dalia, Angela, Zoumboulia, Spiros, & Fotis for ever!!! I am hardly waiting replying back.

sto para 5

Warning: Spoilers
A very successful TV series here in Greece. A lot of fun and adventure... It's being watched by more than 1000000 people in Greece(which is a huge number for this country). The plot is really easy to understand: 5 guys(zoumpoulia, Angela, Dalia, Spiro and fotis) watch by accident one president's death (a murder actually). The 5 guys decide to search and reveal the president's enemies who committed the murder. I really like this series because except from the adventure part, it shows a lot of comedy scenes which are SO funny... I believe that the series'best part is the one with the 2 grandmothers(Spiro has a grandmother who hangs out with an other old lady. Those 2 women are quite weird for their age and are really funny). I'm very happy and satisfied that the series is going to be continued the next year. I hope it's going to be even better...

Humor, original yet simple characters, innovative script , excellent performances and a lot of mystery!!!
ak7319 February 2006
This TV-series is one of few that are worth watching this year on Greek television. It is innovative, with very good performances, extremely well written and an inspiration to young writers. The characters are simple yet very complete. Each and every one of them have their own story but they are all connected to each other as well. This connection is hidden well in the past. Secrets, a mystery key and a murder that happened 30 years ago are only some of the elements of this series. But its important characteristics? An original storyline with excellent character development and lines that create unconstrained and ample laughter as well as being food for thought.

a really smart comedy series
christiana_abertawe7 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
One of the best comedy series ever been played in Greece, and also seen abroad by Greek immigrants (i.e. me:P). Very smart script, with the characters and their lives in as much detail as possible. Congratulations to Giorgos Kapountzides!!! What I don't get is why some people are so negative on the series and the impact of it in the society and people ("o noon noeito", as we say in Greece:P). It's probably the most original, not boring and unpredictable series that the Greek TV has ever "seen" in years! Plus(!), the end will be unpredictable as well (as far as I've heard; it won't be like those boring happy endings you get to see every now and then. So there! :-)

this show is one of the best to be made in greece,
shwfhtp30 April 2024
This was one of the best greek shows to ever be made in my opinion and continues to be good years later, actors where great and on top of how compelling the mystery was the comedy also added so much to it. There is a small problem of it being outdated and at moments including slight (accidental)racism but this was greece in the 2000s and it was very progressive for that time breaking a lot of stereotypes that are still present in modern greek shows.

If your able to look past some weird scenes this show is a must watch and a nearly perfect show which modern greek writers should be inspired from.
