Realism of the working class women of the period in Ireland
ladyshinglehall8 February 2007
I laughed and cried watching this movie. Every intelligent women should see it. It portrayed women in that period beautifully. The struggles of the working class and their tremendous humor in dealing with with every day strife. The acting by the orphaned children was so incredible and I do feel that the movie has been terribly under rated. The realism of the hospital scene will touch any women who has suffered the indignities of surgery. I'm not a great Tom Jones fan but the music and his cameo appearance were very real. We all like a happy ending and and our needs were certainly filled. When recommending this movie to friends I classified it with Vera Drake and Waking Ned Devinne.
