Wonderfully mystical retelling of the Japanese myth. Lyrical and poetic, with a mystery in the middle of it. What is the identity of each of the characters; are they who they seem to be? What is the warrior's purpose, and what does the women want? This short film has quite strong performances by actors who are actually mature and serious, and whose expressiveness is quite real. The music adds an entirely new layer to the film, especially the use of traditional Japanese instruments. The film is in English, adding a layer of complexity into the retelling of the story. But in the end it is less about the sound of a voice than a look, a glance, and the music.
