The fights are good and the rest lost in the translation for me

It starts with a tournament over seen by the military. I cannot discern if this is the Chinese military or occupying Japanese. Wang Kuan-Hsiung defeats all and shares his prize money with the others. The military people are not happy that their man was defeated.

This is the initial movie for Wang Kuan-Hsiung. I have him listed in my database of movies as Wong Goon-Hung but HKMDB changed it so now I have to add this name so all my cross references will link. All these actors have way too many names. This movie was a good start for him. The first fight sequences were excellent then his character is killed off but he died a good death.

My copy is a digital file that plays on a HDTV as wide screen but it is not really wide screen and is cropped on all sides. This cropping creates a problem by making some parts of the fights appear too close up. The fights are good despite this problem. The dialog is Chinese. There are no subtitles and I do not understand Chinese.

I can't write a proper review because of the language problem. I have watched many of these movies without subtitles or dubbing and more often than not I can figure out the story. This time, other than the military being bad guys, I could not pick up anything else. I recommend the movie for fans of martial arts movies of the golden age from 1967 to 1984 based simply on frequent and well done fights.
