Best German Short Film in 2001
PeterPanSyndrom29 May 2006
This film won the first prize as the "Best German Short Film" in 2001. I had the chance to see this piece twice: The first time I saw the German version during the 47th International Short Movie Festival in Oberhausen/ Germany where it caught my attention because of its unconventional directing style and its clearness which I hadn't seen before. The second time I saw the English version on video tape which I must have taped at this time.

"Mexico City" is about a young woman who is walking through the streets of Mexico City. She loves her independence more than the people she meets. In her thoughts she is recapitulating her last relationship to a man who was unable to cope with her vagueness.

Interesting to say might be that the German voice over was done by Daniela Hoffman which happens to be the German voice of Julia Roberts.

I was checking out updates on this director who started out doing so well but surprisingly seemed not to have done anymore films. I met her during her days in Oberhausen in 2001 and at that time she used to study film at the DFFB in Berlin. If anyone has an update on her please post a note at this message board.
