entertaining sci-fi romp from asia
Krhhmg20 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The main reason i even stumbled over this piece was the fact it had no imdb rating. comeon, how many rates does it take to have them displayed? 5? 6? so my expectations went towards so-extreme-it-gets-avoided or so-amateur-it's-irrelevant. it wasn't either. what the viewer gets is a bladerunneresque story with aliens possessing humans and infiltrating society and one dude trying to handle the battle between real human hunters and the disguised intruders - who might not turn out as bad and hostile as they seem. acting is alright, good score, and nice effects. an overlooked solid of japanese (i think) cinema

Very Ambitious

This is a sci-fi, neo-noir, body horror, techno thriller that is way more ambitious than it had any right to be. I want to give it a fair shake, but it's gonna be kind of tough because I saw it on a rip from what must've been a VHS cassette. That being said, it just looked terrible. But I had to note that for 1991, the special effects were way better than I expected. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean they were good. Just better than I expected. And although it's slow in the middle , filling the space of a pretty mind boggling, retread of a story. Humanoid variants are bio engineered by the government, and a force within the government hunts them down. Our hero eventually finds out that he may not have understood the full truth, and is in deeper than he thought. Plenty of violence, nudity, sex, and plenty of WTF moments. Made in 1991 but reeks of 1980s schlock, which if you're anything like me, you love.
