good eye candy-lesbian experimentation-voyeur style
n_thread21 August 2006
This movie was pretty shocking at first, but shortly became just ridiculous, it was filled with silly scenes, and no real plot, lots of genitalia even more than derrière. If you are looking for a titillating, plot less, sex-filled, gratification centered, Italian dud...this would be my pick. I suppose it would have helped to know that subtitles weren't available on this film, but after a few minutes one understands that no subtitles are necessary, as it is easy to figure out, without them. Good to watch if you are enticed by lipstick lesbian love, and Italian horny boys and girls doing it. Great eye candy, and masturbation material/sex material. It was visually and physically exciting, but mentally void of anything worthwhile.

Wh is in charge?
lastliberal20 March 2009
This is perfect after a long week of work. No thinking, just sit back and enjoy Carla (Yuliya Mayarchuk) as she romps throughout London.

First stop is to find a new apartment. This is where she meets Moira (Francesca Nunzi), who is more than willing to share hers at no charge in exchange for some small favors. Oh my! Although the title is Cheeky, and you would expect a focus on that part of the anatomy, I can assure you that there is more than enough focus on the rest of life's treasures in the film. Panties, if worn at all, do not stay on long. In fact, Carla seldom has anything on.

There is a story here, but who cares?

it's a hard genre to make good movies from
fog-913 February 2006
tinto brass has made another of his cardboard copy comedies, with plenty of shots of the rump, and eccentric morality...

cheeky follows the exploits of a young woman travelling to London, and dealing with the jealousy of her boyfriend... as she seems to put up a very weak resistance to all advances, perhaps his response is justified... however, brass has a moral to the story, and when the young man learns his lesson, he realises HE was at fault the whole time... his lover was just keeping the spark alive in icy old england!... watch the interview with brass on the DVD and all will make sense... sort of... well not really...

basically, i think that the erotic genre is a place fraught with danger... move too slowly, and it becomes dull... too excessive, and it becomes... well, very stupid (or vulgar)... cheeky definitely flits over the line a few times, but i'll forgive it, because despite all the borderline perversion threatening to creep in (flashers, raincoat voyeurs, and old, seedy men), it's basically a harmless bit of fluff that is almost charming and innocent in its simplicity...

what's more, brass brings a richness of colour and imagery seldom seen in the soft-core arena... and frankly, that's mostly what it's all about... i've never seen a cheap, soft porn movie that looks as good as this film does...

brass has definitely upped the explicit side of things, stopping short of the unsimulated act, but focusing far more on genitalia and intrusion... personally, i prefer a little rawness, but some may find it a little too crass...

the dubbing is an absolute crime against humanity... it is hilarious to hear the bad English accents in place of the usual silly 50's American drawl, however....

this is an extremely slight movie, with highly unsophisticated comedy (in fact, much of the movie is simply our lead actress prancing around naked)... however, this does beat an 80's movie featuring some guy with a square haircut rubbing himself against a girl with a big perm... watch it with low expectations, and it may be a bit of fun... otherwise, avoid it like English pizza...

Also known as Monella 2
peter0717 October 2001
This flick is a trademark of Brass' films: lots of crotch shots, voyeurism and posterior views of women's rears.

The story starts out about a girl, Carla, who is in London looking for a flat. She gets a break when the realtor is a lesbian and makes sexual advances. Carla's boyfriend, Matteo, gets jealous as he senses his woman is being unfaithful.

This movie has the same plot as "All the Ladies Do It." Nothing original is here, especially the ending when it seems the director says it's okay for a woman to cheat on her man. Oh brother.

All in all, if you like Brass' style of erotic cinema, you'll like Monella 2.

Nah, not for me
dcarroll7424 March 2021
I like Tinto Brass, and what he did in movies He told stories, and made sex normal. Not in this case.

I admire the actors who portrayed in this movie however, it felt more like an end of an era sleeze movie for him, and work for them. How they maintain "normality" is beyond me. Of course, as it is now 21 years ago, a generation has passed, and times have changed. Even as a hetro male, I felt this was degrading to women, unlike his previous movies.

There was no real story, the continuity was terible, and everything felt disjointed. It felt like Playby, in Italian, only worse. I persevered for 45 minutes, then couild take it no longer. Very disappointing as a movie, and more so from a genius in movie making.

She Will Always Lie to Him
claudio_carvalho2 June 2007
In London, the Venetian Carla Borin (Yuliya Mayarchuk) is searching an apartment to share with her beloved boyfriend Matteo (Jarno Berardi). She meets the lesbian real estate agent Moira (Francesca Nunzi) and rents a large apartment. When the jealous Matteo finds some pictures and letters from her former lover Bernard (Mauro Lorenz) in Venice, he hangs up the phone and the upset and amoral Carla has a brief affair with Moira and intercourse with an acquaintance in a party. When Matteo comes to London, he concludes that his lust for Carla is more important than his jealousy and her behavior.

"Transgredire" is another "soft porn" of the sick director Tinto Brass with a shallow and ridiculous story where every situation is a motive to expose the intimate parts of the women in the cast. The amateurish camera exposes the body of the beautiful Yuliya Mayarchuk in every possible angle and her character is abused, touched and licked in every part of her nice body, but without showing explicit penetration. This flick is only recommended to fans of this director and as a voyeur experience seeing Yuliya Mayarchuk naked in erotic situations. My vote is four.

I Like Big Butts and I Will Always Lie
masercot6 January 2009
This movie makes me ashamed of the modern soft-core American porn that I see on the premium cable channels. Every part of a woman's body is shown, without apologies. You could say that no punches have been pulled; HOWEVER, the sex and nudity aren't treated as punches. Penises, both flaccid and erect are shown, as if the average adult actually knew what one was.

It is a beautiful movie, if one likes the female form. The movie's star is gorgeous with no silicon or evidence of a personal trainer. There is a plot, but it doesn't get in the way of the movie very much. The dialog is stupid, but sincere. They don't make movies like this anymore and I doubt that they ever will.

Light hearted erotic foreign comedy
Floated221 January 2024
Directed by Tinto Brass, beloved Italian director who makes these erotic comedy, drama types with heavy explicit scenes with a story. Cheeky tells the story starts out about a girl, Carla, who is in London looking for a place. She gets a break when the realtor is apparently a lesbian and makes heavy advances. Carla's boyfriend, Matteo, gets jealous as he senses his woman is being unfaithful. So he decides to track her down and surprise visit her in London. Along the way he then discovers some past secrets of Carla and eventually things become further interesting.

The main selling point is the amount of skin and explicit scenes. Unlike typical Hollywood films, this film doesn't hold back and shows a lot of close ups to the leads parts, reminiscent of a soft core but more with a plot. The camera work and scenery of the cities are great and makes the film look great. Very clearly not a film for everyone but enjoyable if you have a certain preference for this type of thing.

Decent, light-hearted softcore rubbish
The_Void6 November 2007
Cheeky is actually a much better film than most of the crappy softcore porn stuff out there. It's directed by Tinto Brass; the same director who gave us 'Salon Kitty', a film that I've been meaning to see for ages and have never got round to, in spite of the fact that I have a copy. Anyway, for most of this film the camera focuses on Yuliya Mayarchuk's backside, but it's a nice backside so that isn't really a flaw. Yuliya Mayarchuk and her backside take the lead role, and she stars as a girl named Carla; who is on the lookout for some flats, right near a park filled with perverts and horny couples. She goes to an estate agent and meets a sexy woman named Moira, who wants her. She rents a large apartment and Moira gets her own way, and this causes trouble as Carla is in a relationship with a young man named Matteo. Naturally, Matteo is none too pleased with the way that his girl parades her assets all around town. He comes to London, and the pair has an argument over the pictures that he found in Carla's bedroom.

How much you like this film will largely depend on exactly what you want to get out of movies. If you're looking for something deep and meaningful, don't see Cheeky - but if you just want some cheap and cheerful softcore porn, then this could be for you. There's plenty of nudity, and the leading lady's body gets completely exposed on numerous occasions. There is a lesbian subplot, which is always nice to see and the scenes between the women are actually quite well done. The fact that they're both really hot helps a lot. There are also some regular sex scenes, and plenty of teasing and general nudity. It's all extremely light-hearted; there's plenty of scenes that see the lead in a flimsy short skirt which is being blown about by the wind, and if you ask me; that sort of stuff pretty much sums this film up. It's always obvious where the plot is going - usually another sex scene - so there's not a lot of surprises. There's a couple of scenes that take place to music which are decent, and that's pretty much all I have to say about this one.

Probably the best of Tinto Brass's such outings
christopher-underwood17 January 2007
Bright, cheery, pretty and very sexy with super outfits lots of nudity including many a very real looking prosthetic penis. There may be some silly seriousness here with the Italian title being a play on words with transgression and betrayal and references within the film suggesting female unfaithfulness is a good quality. All very well I suppose if you are big fat and rich with a penchant for watching your girl with someone else, eh Mr Brass? Nevertheless I loved it and it's settings of Venice and London although actually in reality this seemed all shot on a set apart from outdoor scenes in a London park. Well paced, well shot and surprisingly well dubbed. The Ukrainian leading lady a sheer delight although if we are talking bottoms here, and we are for a lot of the film, I would not have thought hers her best asset. Probably the best of Tinto Brass's such outings.

Refreshing, lighthearted, adult entertainment!
masschaos4 August 2008
The movie started out with much explicit sex in a park and keeps getting graphic as the movie progresses, very refreshing compared to most of the "unrealistic" silly porn flicks out there. Cheeky doesn't try to be what it isn't in that it doesn't try to go into a mystery or thriller when all it is is a skin flick. The nudity in this isn't offensive (except to prudes) and although very graphic at time (T n A n P) it's never inappropriate or gratuitous; a refreshing erotic masterpiece for Tinto Brass!

In short, this is not a family flick, but it isn't offensive or vulgar in its soft-core glory; a true gem of erotica.. too bad it's in Italian, I hate reading my movies!

A girl tries to be faithful to her boyfriend
filmjunkie21 March 2000
This film was hilarious. Tinto Brass is a very sweet director, I'm hoping to find more of his back catalogue other than Caligula. This film was presented at American Film Market this year. Usually, investors come in and out of films after 20 minutes with a decision to buy or distribute, but for some reason, nobody could stand up until the end of this film. If you see the film, you'll understand why.

a light European sex romp
michellelocke00712 September 2010
one of the better soft core films put out there by the master of erotica tinto brass who admitted during an interview this was his first film that dealt with lesbianism. i though that the lead actress who played carla, yuliya mayarchuk was simply gorgeous dressed and un-dressed. the only part of the film that i found the least bit interesting or titilatting was carla's lesbian experimentation with her real estate agent moira. i didn't much care for the rest of the story. i thoroughly enjoyed the lesbian seduction and sex scene at the beginning. anyone looking for some light fluff would enjoy this. just don't expect much of a story or anything else for that matter.

Infidelity in London
itamarscomix26 August 2012
I find it funny that Tinto Brass - an Italian native - decided to place his most colorful and cheerful movie in years, of all places, in gray and rainy London. Even if we dismiss the fact that Brass apparently has a rather poor control of English, and didn't bother to check his dialog (what does the constable mean when he shouts "Who's in charge?" over and over again?) Trasgredire really doesn't look like it's set in London; but it looks better than Brass's silly, almost naive softcore erotica did in years. It's beautifully shot and lush with color; the opening sequence alone is worth the whole thing - it's sweet, sexy, funny, fast-paced and very much sets a cheery, light-hearted tone for the rest of the film. Tinto's work is always best when he doesn't take himself seriously, and Trasgredire is a movie that demands to be taken with as little seriousness as possible. It results in several scenes that manage to be erotic, arousing and very funny at the same time - other than the opening sequence, the phone scene also pops to mind.

Unfortunately, all of those scenes are in the first half of the film, and it falls apart in the second half, where - as he so often does - Tinto ruins it with a poorly conceived plot and a pretentious attempt to make some kind of point about human sexuality, which he has been pushing, in slight variations, over and over again at least since 1992's Cosi Fan Tutte. Even more irritating is a scene near the end which echoes the opening scene in the park, but rather than giving it any profound meaning, just spoils the harmless, naive fun of the first sequence. Nevertheless, it's still fun and very easy on the eyes, and one of Brass's best works in recent years.

the King of erotica Tinto Brass
regforum0713 February 2011
i saw this movie recently on DVD and while watching the movie i just got remember that i have seen it before...damn i remember i was just 15-16 of age at that time , I saw this movie in very cheap theater but was very big screen, it was a third row from screen and honestly i can't understand a single word from the movie, i just wanted to enjoy the erotic action on big screen but after ten years thanks to English subtitle on DVD.

Cheeky is 100% master piece from Tinto Brass, it is highly enjoyable flick more than any adult movie. story is very simple about a girl, while looking for room in London she meet a lesbian real estate agent, several sexual encounters happen with her and then a jealous boyfriend come behind her.

i watched many movies of Tinto brass and i guess he is totally in favor of womens but i like the way he thinks. all of his movies are about adulterous womens and their life with and without there husband/boyfriend around, sometime watching movies on womens infidelity twist the heart. but the real beauty of his movies is in the way they do it. different womens, different story and situations thats what makes us into his movies.

Yuliya Mayarchuk who is in lead role looks very hot in this movie and she did a great job of jolly girl, some of the sex scenes are very much anticipated in a great manner that keeps us interested throughout the movies but it doesn't mean you can watch it with you wife/girlfriends. don't do that

Nonchalant Openness
tedg28 April 2007
Some films are simply about the appeal of one character. That's all that matters.

There seem to be two types: those that depend on the charm of attractive women, and those that have to work some other engagement. Often that's the acting challenge.

I'm thinking in particular of Audrey Hepburn and "Funny Face." The story and all else is there only to showcase the woman; She is only there for us and we for her. Soft porn should be the place we see much of this, simply because it affords a wider set of seductive options. But it just isn't so. I think there are several reasons for this. When a film is marketed as smut, expectations aren't very high and what you usually get is something that is measured as less than "the real thing."

Tinto Brass, in some of his later films tries to make something genuinely seductive I think, something that is itself. And he has a good eye, a good cinematic sense. Unfortunately for me, what he thinks is seductive in terms of body types doesn't score. Its a cultural thing.

But what he aims for is casual intimacy, the type of casualness that isn't deliberately seductive, but the center of being of the woman. So when you see the nude actress, it is more likely to be her lounging around the house. Its a study in a woman.

A second reason you see this so little is, well, there are few women on screen who can charm like say Audrey Hepburn. The ones that can act go to a different market. The ones who can't end up in the higher paying "adult industry." So it must be quite a challenge for Brass to find a woman sufficiently natural in a sexual appeal to built a film around.

The story in this case if you don't know it is that he found this woman as a waitress in a pizza place and charmed her into the role. She IS successful at being what he needs, apparently because its what she really is. So in a way, its a documentary, if you subtract out the story, which you'll do even if you aren't interested in the process.

Ted's Evaluation -- 2 of 3: Has some interesting elements.

What a waste of a good woman
capelladewdrop12 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Most of this movie plays out as porn with the story of a love triangle where the girl in it Carla could have a good woman called Moira but she wants to be with an abusive overbearing jealous man who thinks relationships she had before she even met him means that she cheated on him once.

The acting is bad and some of the scenes are way over the top. Everyone just has sex everywhere all the time apart from the whiny little girl called Matteo who looks like a boy.

People try to say this is a good movie, but in my opinion it is no different from the heaps of other B movie porno themed movies that are going around.8/10 for the hot porn scenes but the story it tries to have is just garbage.

Looking and Touching
RResende30 November 2008
Sometimes i choose a number of films, 5 or 6, that explore, i suspect, some issue that interests me. This time i didn't exactly know what i wanted, but -i knew it had something to do with ways to explore a notion of eroticism, or at least center a film on sex. -Also i wanted to check different ways to understand a woman, or women, through cinema.

This was the first i decided to see from my 'cycle' (though it is the second i comment on). It is more centered on a woman, than sex.

It emphasizes Mayarchuk, and the whole story swings around watchers, and desire for her. So it is a story of voyeurs, people who look, people who touch. Even the very idea of what sex stands for in a relation underlines this: people who enjoy watching their partner screwing others. Jealousy as the fuel for passion, and watching as the fuel for being jealous.

Above all the characters who watch each other, we have Brass watching Mayarchuk, and the visual theme here is exploring her. So all the sex that involves her are situations forged to displace her body (specially her buttocks. Notice that all the intercourse with her is from behind, even the oral sex, and the cuddling.

Of course these films, while may give the directors greater freedom to explore their visual concerns (the average public demands few things of these films), they are also attached to low budget (low production values), and a number of rules they have to follow. Tinto Brass is apparently a master on the genre (this is his first film i see), and i think there are things to be explored in these kind of film.

I didn't find Mayarchuk appealing, despite i come from an European Latin culture. So i suppose she will match the desires of a good portion of Portuguese, Spanish and Italian viewers, to whom blondness, and big sizes are the symbol of a Nordic sexuality, so much appreciated in south Europe.

My opinion: 2/5
