Two Elephants and a Henry.

This title had been winking at me for some time. I'm surprised - and a little honoured, too - to be the first to review this one on IMDb. Of course, it is a rare one. Ánd a little gem, indeed.

The first (approx.) fifteen minutes are no less than brilliant; it begins with a cross-cutting scene of the two (well, three) main characters, has a brilliant soundtrack (reminded me somewhat of Goblin; @Imdb: name/nm0006102) and a very disturbing chase. Films like 'Elephant' ('89 + '03) and 'Henry: portrait...' immediately spring to mind. But this one was made many years before both...

What ensues is a rather thin, but well played out plot about two (gay, I would guess, but things stay kind of vague on that) friends and a third gay man who unwittingly provided the guns for a killing spree; when he finds out, he must decide what to do. We get to see the human faces of these crazy killers and in the end... well, not many surprises there, but still very well done. The soundtrack stays as brilliant throughout as it was the first fifteen minutes. The acting is quite good and the grim backdrop of a Belgian city - Brussels as I just managed to find out - and some woods in the early '70s, is perfect.

A big 8 out of 10.
