A night watchman is guarding an amusement park in which he observes romancing couples. He realizes that he is lonely and decides to find a partner. He goes to a lonely hearts club where he meets a woman. After spending the night together in her apartment, the man goes out to buy groceries. He gets lost in a labyrinth of identical high-rise apartment buildings and is unable to find the way back to the woman. They remain lonesome - she with a sense of abandonment, he with a sense of loss.
