Inspired by the story of King Lear, 'Islands' is a father/daughter road movie that asks us to consider how much we ought to be responsible for the people we love. Georgia calls her father Peter everyday. But Peter, divorced and self-exiled at the family's summer home on the Isle of Wight, has stopped picking up the phone. When Georgia travels to the Island to check up on him, she discovers that he is ill and refusing treatment. Unbeknownst to Peter, his daughter hatches a plan to force him to face his problems - but a battle of wills ensues, and issues deeper than Peter's health erupt to the surface.
