The gallant hero is wealthy and has a girl; he also has a friend who has a girl, but one summer day they both get the cold shoulder. Then Count Pastry De Creampuff butts in and spoils a happy little reunion meeting, although the pals win out. But the Count has a deadly accomplice in the Baron von Thumbtack, who is determined to win the heroine, Lizzie Linksausage, at all costs, so after some fearful adventure in and out of a modern castle, the villain Creampuff abducts the fair Lizzie, but the hero rescues her and tells her to lock herself in her room. But after holding a council with his pals, Creampuff again secures possession of Lizzie and is taking her off in an auto when he is beaned by a beanshooter in the hands of a ferocious small boy. Again Handsome Harry comes to the rescue and takes the beanshooter away from the boy. Later that evening, Harry visits Lizzie and discovers an auger hole in the ceiling. Taking aim with his trusty beanshooter, he hits Pancake Pinhead, who is peering through a knothole, squarely in the eye. Then the villain gets busy again and is again defeated by our hero. In the words of the subtitle, "It isn't the cough that carries 'em off, it's the Coffin they carry 'em off in." But Harry is pinched by the villain constable for carrying concealed weapons (i.e. the beanshooter) and is appeared against in court by the "eyewitness." He is held for a $1-million bail, but being shy one cent, must wait until he can cable for the other cent, meanwhile languishing in jail. But in the end, virtue triumphs and villainy is punished, to the joy of all concerned.
