Review of Night Shift

Night Shift (2020)
6/10
Disgusting wife with quite inconsistent "moral values"

What kind of message is this movie about to send about life and marriage?

While he movie focuses on the police work, the side thread about the private life of the female police officer I find disgusting.

The movie starts with showing her with her family, her husband, a young child who interrupts their sleep several times each night, husband and wife seem to share the duty of getting up and taking care of their child.

She gets up in this scene, but her husband also gets up and while she gets ready for work, he attends to the child, and talks to him: "We rarely see mom recently...".

A bit later we learn that the reason is that she cheats with her fellow police officer, we learn that she is pregnant, she is sure, from him, which means she mostly abandoned her family, her child, her husband, for several month already.

We see her spending evenings, nights, even days with her AP, dancing, sleeping with each other, talking, but she has no time whatsoever for her family.

All the while she tells her AP (affair partner), that her husband is nice, cool, a great husband.

I wonder why she wants, and, in the end, gets an abortion, if she isn't interested in her family anymore anyway.

Possibly, because her AP is black, so there would be no point in pretending the new child would be from her husband, AND because her AP made it very clear, that "no woman can TAME me, my relationships never lasted 7 years" (she told him that she is married for seven years now).

My summary regarding the wife:
  • cheats, neglects her husband and her whole family, at least for months.

  • is highly concerned about some illegal alien but quickly gets an abortion for her own unborn child (and I am not against abortions in general, but I see a double standard in her).

For me, she is just a disgusting wife.
