A bit better than the average Grable-Dailey outing.

I am not necessarily the best person to review the musicals from Twentieth Century,-Fox. The style and formula never really appealed all that much to me, though there are many musicals I love...just not the Fox ones. Additionally, I find a real sameness with the musicals that Betty Grable made...especially the ones she partnered with Dan Dailey. Fortunately, this one is a bit different (Dailey does NOT play a horrible husband...a huge plus)...and I enjoyed it mildly. I must admit, however, that the song and dance numbers themselves ae the parts of the movie I enjoyed least and most are pretty forgettable...especially the number where Grable is trying to look and act like Uncle Pennybags from Monopoly.

Grable and Dailey play, naturally, hoofers who work in Vaudeville. Because of this, they are constantly traveling and having a family life is difficult...though NOT impossible. After staying home for several years to raise their two kids, the missus returns to the road with her hubby while grandma ably cares for the kids. One problem that occurs later in the film, however, is that their oldest has gone to a school where her friends are a bit snobbish...and she's actually embarrassed by her parents. How all this works out is something you can see for yourself.

Overall, a mildly enjoyable film which ain't perfect but it should be good enough for musical fans and non-fans alike. Plus, Señor Wences does a number in the film...and I really do think he is charming to watch.
