Warning: Spoilers
"Solar Crisis" is a nice looking sci-fi film with a pretty large budget for its time. But ultimately it was a big box office failure...which leaves you wondering how...unless, of course, you watch the film when the problem becomes obvious....the script is terrible. As a result, audience members stayed away in droves and the studio tried re-editing the film in the hope that it would help. I saw the re-edited American version. It didn't help. The story still makes no sense and the dialog is awful.

The film is set in 2050 and some sort of killer solar flare is predicted to be coming soon. At best, 90% of the population will be destroyed...at worst, everyone will die on this husk of a planet. So the combined forces on Earth and in space work to eliminate the problem by triggering the solar flares early...and making them safe.

The problem with all this is that there is a rich baddie who does everything he and his corporation can do to make sure the survival plan doesn't work. Now help me understand this. If he is successful, everyone will die...so WHY would he and his minions try to stop the mission??? It simply doesn't make any sense at all and since all the film revolves around this, the entire film is confusing and leaves you wondering WHY. Why spend a fortune when the plot makes no sense at all??
