Ken Loach directed a gem of film about British politics and its troubled relationship with Northern Ireland. Brad Dourif plays an American attorney working for a human rights group with his girlfriend, Ingrid Jessner, played Frances McDormand. Mai Zetterling had a supporting role as Moa with the human rights group. Too bad, she didn't stay longer. Brian Cox played a British police detective assigned to the murder case. The storyline is a bit complicated as there are some lack of clarity with the movie. Frances MacDormand holds her own against Brian Cox onscreen. This film was before she became the heir apparent to Meryl Streep. She is realistic in appearance and acts naturally onscreen. Sometimes her face can say it all without a word.
