I expected a rom-com. If they are well-written, they can be a source of good entertainment, even if they are a well-worn set of tropes. If I am going to spend some time to get to know the characters and just lean into the romance, it can be enjoyable.
The writing in this movie is so bad. A mediocre writer could just lean in the trope-fest and let the chemistry of the romantic partnership play out for an enjoyable movie. The set-ups were horrible. The interaction between the primary characters was horribly implemented. The monologues from the secondary characters were so contrived, they were unbelievable.
