Three sex scenes - two with McClure - within the first 20 mins leave no doubt about what kind of movie 'Bare Deception' is. A fact not gonna be lost on the people who choose to watch it, but the erotic thriller - entire T&A genre - has always been a hit or miss affair even at it's peak. If all you crave is female nudity then this title will do the job, but forget about a decent story, characters here.
Julia (Tane McClure) and her producer boyfriend Christian (Daniel Anderson) launch a racy radio talk show in LA looking to establish itself, gain ratings, attract sponsors. Of course as it turns out, Christian is cheating on her responding to the women who call in looking for sexy times. When the first match turns up dead the question becomes is it a random killer or is someone from the show involved?
The concept used here isn't a new one and that's fine. It can work if they're willing to treat it serious and build a decent mystery. That doesn't seem to be the focus though and everything is extremely rushed. Within a day of the first victim both the police and media are already all over the case connecting it to the radio show. Plus the killer only strikes out this once so there's not even any real suspense or tension. A low budget film thru and thru the cast is small so the list of suspects is pretty narrow and ultimately doesn't even matter.
'Bare Deception' isn't a golden example of what this genre or plot device can do at it's best. A solid title will titillate with a story that is somewhat interesting. What's on display here is dull with one note characters and no atmosphere as the whodunit element right up until the end is a joke. Tane and a few other ladies supply some heat, but that element alone can't elevate this flick into something better.
