The writing isn't good
4 March 2024
I'm writing this review to remind myself of how I felt about the film, should I be faced with watching this again down the road.

The story is about a young girl who likes to sing, but doesn't have the guts to sing in front of others.

The mom and daughter are illegals, but they don't go into that history.

There's a lot of holes in the story or aspects the writer didn't feel were important.

Atop that, I didn't like the girl's singing and I felt like she made poor decisions. Her immaturity shined. I'm sure I was meant to feel bad for the girl, but I didn't. I blame the writing and acting on that.

The movie could have been written a lot better. It's just not that good.

There was a part when the girl saw a picture of Dale Watson with Johnny Cash and that got me thinking I'd like to see a movie about Dale Watson. I'd be more interested in that. Good job Dale.
