Okay so, to start with, this is along the lines of an 80s style horror comedy. It's not meant to be scary. There's a fair amount of gore, the story is a bit trite and predictable but it's actually quite a fun little movie.
I'm not a horror movie fan in general, however, due to my best friend's love of horror I have really become quite aware of exactly what movies in the genre I enjoy.
It's definitely got an old school cheese appeal (great for those of us that live for cheese and one-liners). It's not overly creepy or gross in a body horror or torture porn style.
I say give it a watch, if you don't like it, it's not for you.
