I have waited so many years, searched so many decades for this movie, this typicall late sixties - pacifism period - feature, an anti war film as also was anothher UK war film: CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIAGADE, starring the same David Hemmings. I am not surprised that many folks were puzzled by this movie, far, far away from heroism material such as THE LONGEST DAY or even WHERE EAGLES DARE; I almost forgot BATTLE OF THE BULGE, produced the same year and which story takes place in the same region and period. Gloomy, downbeat, yes, that's definitely a late sixties film in terms of atmosphere and purpose.
