It was one thing to listen to the Encounter Party podcast over their three seasons. As a somewhat recent DnD convert, and a storyteller myself, this show has really found a way to bring in visual elements to enhance the actors' storytelling.
However the real gem of this show is that each of the actors are deeply bought into their world and the characters they are creating. You can tell they all care immensely for not only the platform, but the stories they are creating. And to do it off the cuff? It's truly incredible.
You see "improv" and assume you could be watching people learn how to use "Yes, and...". Yet, despite the fact that each had to do some deep research in their characters' creations, they're able to move through each story with an ease as if they're doing exactly what a script told them to do. That truly is a mark of how wonderful these performers are.
