A Diamond in the Rough. Give it a Chance.

Wow. Where has this been hiding? I'm not one to watch web series. So, I went in expecting very little and I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I binged watched all four seasons in a row.

The story is really creative and fun. And I love the fact that they try and make it feel real. Just some random collage student who gets sucked into a world of vampires, magic and other creatures. There's no real quality with the filming, but the story is really fun. And every episode ends on a cliffier that makes you keep watching. It has a great intensity that sucks you right in and keeps your attention the entire time.

The acting is where the series wobbles a little. The main character Laura played by Elise Bauman is not a good actress. She sounds like she is saying lines and struggles to have emotion on her face. Everyone else is fantastic. They're all very smooth. But Laura's lack of ability really stands out like a sore thumb amongst everyone else who can act. She does get annoying after awhile. But near the ending of the last season she did improve a little.

I really enjoyed the lesbian relationship in the series. It was my favourite thing about the entire show. I loved how natural and normal they made it. There was nothing to hide or explain, it was just like any other relationship. This made the show down right good. What was even better is it wasn't just all butterfies and roses. There was lots of great drama, funny moments and slow burns.

I would have watched this series a long time ago if i would have known it existed. Many times I searched on google for lesbian series or movies and I never saw this on the list. The other day I did an extensive search on google and randomly stumbled across this series. I wish it would have better advertised. The series really deserves it.
