Family Dinner (2022) is an Austrian film that is part Body-Horror, part psychological thriller. Not a perfect film by any means, The main character is pretty much stupid. No I'm sorry but waiting 1 hour 30 minutes for that?? We might as well make a short film with the little script material we're given. It's really boring and monotonous. Sometimes in a day nothing happens. I expected at least a good fall and that we shift towards the horrific but not even we see two drops of blood and the result breaks everything that the director tried to undertake earlier in the film by proposing a disconcerting atmosphere that emanates from this family. It's in the last 5 minutes that everything comes together that needed to be energized in the middle of the film. In addition, it deals with themes that will ultimately not even resolve or exploit so yeah disappointing all the same.
