A force 3 of a film

Warning: Spoilers
As a sailor I was curious to see what this was about so I was fixed on the sailing aspects at first. But then the tension started to ramp up slowly.

Sadly, once Saffron Burrows was gone the rest of the cast failed to make the mark in terms of great acting, although out of all of them Odeya Rush and Ray Liotta did try. I suspect the problem was poor direction rather than lack of acting skills. Apart from Eric Dane (Derek) who clearly has zero acting skills.

The tension rose slowly until naked savagery was the order of the day and as the excitement ramped up, and the twists and turns went down many rabbit holes, Rush's character 'Rose' stepped up to the mark with her own innate savagery.

It was more than a leap of faith to imagine that Rose could do what she did, but it is an adventure film so I excuse that somewhat. In fact the film did have some real tense parts and definitely engaged me in the (silly) story. Production was also quite decent and at some point I stopped criticising things out of place or factually incorrect.

Of course the tiny Odeya Rush was unrealistically pitted against 6' 2", muscled to the hilt bad guys and she beat them all. But I guess putting aside her diminutive stature and teen age, it's nice to see another female action hero, despite the ridiculousness of her in the situation.

More of a TV film for a night in with a takeaway than anything else, but it gets a solid 5 from me for actually being not too bad.
