American Star (2024)
1/10
A 5 min film extended to 110mins. All filler.

Warning: Spoilers
This is what happens when you create a short film and someone thinks it's good, then they expand it thinking it'll be still good. No, that's called filler.

The writer and director are novices and perhaps should stick to 5 min films, this one would have been a good one. The entire film dialogue is composed of but a few pages.

What we are given is long dramatic scenes, landscape shots, thinking shots, useless interactions with a kid that don't add anything.

You will find yourself using the FFW button rather quickly as it gets boring and mundane within the first 5 mins. Ian McShane is usually great but here there is no dialogue to work with.

Some writers/directors should just stick to short films. Landscape scenes and low dialogue make for a dreadful watch. Even the ending is a disappointment.
