Monk series have a special connection with me since I got my son to watch it with me (rewatch for me) when he was 13 (now 17).
The show was great for those who have a strong nostalgia connection with the series, and "okay-good" for those wanting to see a mystery/detective show.
Though there is lots of fan fare in the show, there was no Sharona and Molly is a different actress.
The main reason for the 6/10 was due to the lack of crime solving; the movie just wasn't worthy to be a full fledge film. How it was "solved" really seemed like a throwaway moment to end the movie versus him "accidentally" figuring it out due to continuous investigation and just needing that one piece to connect it all.
Lastly, the way the movie "catches" the criminal is one of those weak Monk episodes where you put your "couch lawyer hat on" and bring up easy arguments that should get your client off the hook easily because the evidence is flimsy at best.
Enjoyed the film as a fan, but if I was a person who just stumbled up a detective movie to watch, this was definitely a "so-so" that would not make me interested enough in seeing the series. Which such as a fan, because we (fans) know how great a show this is.
