Weird one
starts really well
story makes sense
acting is great
then sometimes after 3 or 4 E it turns to llama doodoo
and yet and yet it is still watchable but now you do not trust the narrative anymore because it is TOTALLY implausible
you do not just have to suspend disbelief you have to open the window on a jet (why not in this one here) and lob it out of the window because now it gets to a point where possible veracity is not an option and has not been for a while
And then you get to the last 2 episodes and it loses its excrement altogether (some words cannot be used here :)
The last threat in the story looks like she has walked out of a bingo hall or a hen party in Torremolinos and the baddies now back in the UK are cardboard cutouts from a 1960s British film maybe the Train Robbers they speak and act like it was 1966 not 2023
And yet throughout all this Elba is the Peach (Melba) sorry I simply had to. Very good great facial stuff dramatic and yet comedic too
Did not much care for the dismissive remark on Bucharest from the baddie in chief at one point ... there and then all of Brexit explained to the incognoscenti.
So my verdict is they overcooked it. Could have been brilliant and one for the vault but some of the scriptwriting went totally off-piste maybe off pissed
Even in fiction there are rules you cannot write stuff which makes no sense and expect folks to applaud
Elba good Story good for ten minutes then kerrap Watchable and fun but clumsy as a bear in a tutu on an ice-rink with the lights turned off.
