Beautiful and haunting depiction of the stellar book

The book by Alex Schulman is definitely a standout in modern Swedish litterature, and captures the life of legendary author Sven Stolpe and the secrets surrounding it.

The film adapts it all beautifully, whilst giving it its own flair in ever clever ways. The actors all do an incredible job, and Bill Skarsgård is indeed remarkable as ever in the role as Stolpe. Like his brother Gustav in the likewise great Swedish film Ondskan (Evil), he captures the essence of a dark and brooding, yet complicated bully splendidly.

The cinematography, cutting and editing is stellar, as one would expect from such a legend as Björn Runge, and the costume work must be commended, it feels very authentic to the time it takes place in.

Overall, definitely a masterpiece, and one of the best films of the year! Ever recommended for any lover of film.
