For people that read the reviews and want to know ahead of time of any sensitive/taboo topics to expect, this anime has depictions of adults having sex with children (7 years or younger), rape, anal probing, torture, gore, and masterbation. This heads up is for anyone expecting the typical sex/gore M rating content and not realizing this show is much heavier. I have a lot of friends that find these themes a deal breaker so hopefully I've helped people not waste time.
Now that the rating explanation is out of the way, I'll get into the review. I loved the fighting, the gorgeous color palette, and the characters were fun. Rin and Hayato were my favorites - block headed, stubborn, and strong. They had an interesting plot between demons vs god like beings. I wanted to know what could actually kill an Idaten. What purpose do they have? Why are they so different from demons. Why are the demons covered in eyes on the inside? Plus the opening song and animation is cool as hell. Why the low rating? It was so sexual that it hit a point where it stopped feeling like an anime. I kept waiting for more character development, more action, more plot, more progression. A lot of the plot felt rushed and the first fast forward was funny but the next few skipped over core points that could've been explained more in the show. I would've preferred less sex for more fight scenes and to fill in plot holes.
