Ayakashi Triangle (2023– )
7/10
An amusing enough but fan service heavy series
27 September 2023
This series is set in the fictional Japanese city of Omiko. Here, unbeknownst to most residents, there are spirits known as Ayakashi; some of which represent a danger to the people. To protect the people those who are aware of the Ayakashi have formed the 'Exorcist Ninjas'; people with the power to destroy the beings. Matsuri Kazamaki and Suzu Kanade have been friends since childhood and can see the Ayakashi. Suzu's powers draw the Ayakashi to her and Matsuri vows to protect her. One day he faces Shirogane, the King of Ayakashi. He can't defeat it but he seals its powers... but not before it can curse him. It turns him into a girl so he can't get together with Suzu! Shirogane determines to get his powers back as Matsuri has to get used to being a girl.

This series has a decent enough story and fun characters. It also has a lot of fan service. This involves a fair amount of nudity and panty shots which in the broadcast version was censored in a less than subtle manner. I know it is done to help DVD/Blu-ray sales but personally I wished it had been toned down enough to air uncut. Having a five month gap in the middle of the series didn't help; at least new viewers won't have to deal with that. The animation and character designs are solid and I liked the characters. Most of the time things are played for laughs but there are some good tense scenes later on. Overall I'd say it passed the time well enough.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
