Who is dumber? Castiel who has lived thousands of years and apparently learned nothing and has no wisdom or smarts? Sam who is permanently submissive to whatever Dean tells him to do? Dean who thinks he knows everything and is frequently outsmarted by villains, demons, monsters, Crowley, etc.?
In this episode, the dumbo brothers have to cure a demon to complete the third trial so they can seal the gates of hell. Instead of using a common lower power demon, they decide to unearth Abaddon, one of the Knights of Satan, and sew her head back onto her body. Does it makes sense to try and cure a powerful Knight of Satan instead of a random street demon? It does if your Sam & Dean!
Of course, while they are talking and arguing about what to do with Abaddon as she sits there planning to escape, Crowley calls, so the insipid morons decide they need to leave Abaddon alone so they can have private talk with Crowley. Needless to say, Abaddon escapes. Now the dorks have another powerful enemy on the loose thanks to their sheer stupidity.
As a subplot, the sub-moronic Castiel is getting manipulated by Metatron (Curtis Armstrong a/k/a Booger from The Revenge of the Nerds movies) into doing some killing. At this point, Castiel has reached such a low that any random character uses him to commit murder. I feel sorry for the character, and wonder why this show had so much awful writing?
