An improvement over the first episode, but still plagued by a lot of the same issues. The characters are more settled -- not trying so hard, just being themselves -- it's just the writing that seems ... well, it gives the impression of being based on a book, whose the author didn't really know how people behave in the situations depicted.
On the good side, by not trying so hard to be cute and/or funny -- oh, who am I kidding? They're still trying. And the music is just as irritatingly out-of-place, and loudly so. Decent music, mind you, just not usually well-used.
However, it's nice that the cast are getting the hang of their parts, even if those parts are still rather annoying characters. Now I'd just like to see them find their own stories, and stop stealing bits from Hamish Macbeth, which suffered similar issues.
