Untold Stories of the ER (2004–2020)
3/10
Completely unrealistic and ideologically based.

I was a law enforcement officer for 21 years. During this time. I spent many hours in EDs and have made strong bonds and lasting friendships with heathcare professionals (I even married one). Point being, we worked together in a symbiotic relationship. So when I saw the episode "Fire in the Hole" I was left speechless. The police were portrayed as bumbling, trigger happy simpletons who made all the wrong decisions against the advice of the young, take charge, ED Resident with 0 actual real life experience and the feisty nurse caught up in the action. It was 180deg from real life and embarassingly laughable. The.cops trapped all over themselves trying to find a mass shooter(occasionally bangs are heard in the background, which are never really explained when the "reveal" of the story occurs), they point weapons at patients/staff and take direction from the doctor regarding the suspects they are there to detain.

NONE of this would actually happen and was, for lack of a better term, degrading. Certainly disrespectful. I have since transitioned to heathcare, hence my curiosity in the show, but seeing as how they disrespected such a major ally in patient care and community relations, I have decided to forego watching any further.

I only gave it a few stars because many of the stories are entertaining.

The show is billed as "scripted" and the doctors are real. But even though some of the stories are taken from real life experiences, I can assure you dramatic license is certainly overwhelmingly applied.

If this was a real story, I can guarantee, with experience on both sides of the aisle, this is not how any of it went down. Not even close.
