War Nurse (1930)
6/10
war melodrama

It's the depths of World War I. A group of American gals volunteer to be nurses in France. This is a pre-Code talkie. It still has a few inter-titles like the silent film era. Some are even unnecessary. I don't know any of these actors and had trouble distinguishing the different characters except for one. The takes are longer. It tries to do a war hospital with grim reality as well as some romances. The romances become melodramatic. It's trying to do something like MASH with less funny comedy. The war action is a lot of projection screen and miniatures. They finally unleash the explosives after an hour. It's a little too late to give this some war realism.
