Opal (2020)
10/10
So Sad And So Brilliant.

Warning: Spoilers
I found Opal by accident one night and I found it haunting. It is a beautiful and tragic at the same time.

Having experienced neglect as a child, this hit harder...a lot harder.

A child whose life is a living hell of neglectful, miserable people who are more invested in their self inflicted misery then caring for their child. Opal, whose real name is Claire is movies through the house trying to avoid these people, her family and her only safe place is the attic where she sees a billboard with a happy family plastered on it.

This is a sad story and one that is all too real for children who have suffered abuse and neglect by selfish rotten adults. This is a short film that is important and should been seen by as many people as possible. Is it easy to sit through, no, but it is not meant to be. It is dark and bleak with no happy ending. But it is beautifully done and worth watching.
