Maryada Ramanna looked more like 80s+ bharat cinema, yet this older film directed by S. S. Rajamouli looks fairly modern. The historical costumes and decorations are really how they should be. But also it's a low-budget film, even if it was expensive by telugu standards of the time. You can expect compositing, and CGI not that drastically different from Tunak Tunak Tun. And there're the under-cranked slo-mo scenes, and weird morphs. Some scenes are made with weird shallow wide-lens setup that makes them look out of focus. Mostly the ones shot in the palace.

It's a pretty typical bharat's total work of art film. There's some dated comedy, some action scenes, some drama, some modern urban culture, some historical fiction, dances with songs and of course romance. Which is really weird here. For a story about eternal unstoppable love the "good" guy really loves to point sharp and dangerous objects at girls. From swords and daggers to threatening with glassing. That's besides stalking, kidnapping and accidentally bumping the lead girl's head so hard - she had a severe concussion and lost consciousness for several hours.
