You'll Never Leave Me (2023 TV Movie)

Warning: Spoilers
The two titles ("A Deadly Mistake" and "You'll Never Leave Me") did not do justice to the themes explored in this film.

The protagonist April Cook is a talented graphic designer who made an unfortunate decision in getting romantically involved with Patrick Bannister. After a serious automobile crash, Patrick lies in a coma, and April has a panic attack. The film is really about her trigger warnings.

There was an interesting set of characters developed and a moving relationship between April and her mother Stella. But the standout in this film was the conflicted character of Jimmy Conway, the troubled brother-in-law of Patrick Bannister. Jimmy's problem was that he was unable to think for himself as he fell under the sway of his formidable and neurotic sister-in-law, Susan. Instead of following his better instincts, he became enmeshed in her weird fantasies.

The film is worth watching for the unfolding of Jimmy's bifurcated persona as he toggles between the amoral influence of Susan and his own moral compass.

The melodramatic nature of the film led to excessive emoting and an especially stagey and unconvincing climatic scene with some wild fight choreography. But it was the more subtle inner struggle of both April and Jimmy that made the film intriguing as the characters became more alert to their trigger warnings.
