The Book of the Dead is found under an old apartment building. Unwittingly a teenage boy opens it and starts looking through it and playing along the records that come with it. This causes the evil dead to rise up and start killing and/or possessing them.
It has a good cast and the acting is OK. Also there are tons of blood and gore in this. TONS!!! I'm surprised (and pleased) that this got an R rating. The main problem here is that it's not that scary. Sick and disturbing sure but not scary. Also the beginning and end sequences have no ending and leave two big plotholes.
Easily the weakest of the series.
