As long as people flock to the beaches, because of this film, people will think, what if? I've just watched this classic for the umptenth time, and in nearly forty years, it hasn't dated. The people on the beaches look just the same them, as they do now, and I could easily imagine myself there. The "move along, everything is fine, no need to worry" political mentality is also still very much alive and kicking. If I had to name my favourite bit, it would be where Quint and Hooper trade scars on board the Orca, in the darkness, while waiting for the shark to return. The acting, filming, direction and writing all come together to make it a truly remarkable moment.
