Review of Leave

Leave (I) (2022)
5/10
Where is her diary?
9 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film opens as a mystery. A baby is left at a cemetery in Massachusetts. She was adopted and raised by Raylan (Clarence Smith) and his wife. The infant was wrapped in satanic symbol swaddling and wore an upside down cross. In the next scene Hunter (Alicia von Rittberg) knows her origins, somewhat and lies to her father as she takes off to Norway to discover her roots. Her attempt to find her real parents is rather quick, considering. She did have a DNA clue being from Norway and a Norwegian black metal band was in town the night she was abandoned. The film moves quickly as she locates some of her relatives, but nothing is as it seems. We later discover "Leave" is a homonym for Hunter's original Norwegian name.

The film is long and while the plot picks up at about and hour into the feature, it is still slow as hell. It was twists which go slow.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
